Working at the world's largest steel company?

ArcelorMittal Projects is looking for an enterprising Project Manager to join our Foundation Solutions team!

As part of a project team, you as a Project Manager are responsible for the coordination and implementation of complex and challenging infrastructural projects (including tunnels, floors, temporary construction pits, revetments, quay walls, etc.). As a Project Manager you will have a central role as an "intermediary" where you have a lot of internal contact with colleagues (including from the logistics, production and finance departments), customers, suppliers and distributors.

You have an average of 5 to 15 projects under management at the same time that have about 2 months of lead time. The size and complexity of a project can vary enormously.

After your sales colleagues have sold a project, the back office takes care of the complete file and the processing in our ERP system (including the purchase of materials). Then you take over the project. For some projects you "only" have to arrange the logistics and transport aspects and for other custom projects you have to specify the project together with the production department. Sales sells projects based on an estimate (in terms of material supplies). Then it's up to you to work everything out further; Do materials still need to be repaired, cut, welded and/or painted? Exactly how many materials are needed? etc.

Some tasks / responsibilities of a Project Manager

  • Coordination with all stakeholders within the project (including suppliers, customers, internal departments) in the field of deliveries
  • Purchase of services (e.g. road/water transport)
  • Daily administrative tasks to ensure that you can deliver on time and at the desired margins. Furthermore, if necessary, adjust the Back log & Planning for the forecast.
  • You inform customers about the progress of their projects
  • You take care of the invoicing
  • You ensure the correct delivery of the final documentation to the customer, such as: certificates and freight documents

Your colleagues and our culture

You will work in an informal atmosphere where the doors are always open. More than 100 employees work at our location, 10 of whom work in the Project Management department. This department consists of 2 teams: Pipes and Sheet Piles. You will report to Head of Project Management & Backoffice.

"There is a good atmosphere in our department and I can always go to my colleagues to discuss issues. In addition, I get a lot of freedom within my position and the opportunity to carry out my work independently"- From one of our Project Managers

What can you expect from us

No day is the same and often your daily schedule will not be as you had planned beforehand. You have to love this. You have many internal and external contacts and will work in an informal and young team.

You organize your work yourself without losing sight of the desired results. It is your goal to monitor an overview of the projects and ensure satisfied customers.

We follow the COLLECTIVE LABOUR AGREEMENT 'Technical Wholesale' and have 40 days off. Furthermore, we have a bonus scheme (max. 8%), tax benefits for the gym and we offer ample development and training opportunities. You also get the option to work from home 1 day a week.

Our office is located between Rotterdam and Bergen op Zoom and can be reached by car.

Onboarding process

You start with an internal introduction so that you get to know the different departments and your stakeholders. You will then be linked to a colleague from your department (buddy system) and you will receive an on-the-job induction process that matches your experience and needs. Depending on your needs, you can develop yourself further.

The ideal Project Manager

We are open to a junior, mid-level or senior employee. It is important that you have experience in project management and/or logistics in a similar position. A college degree is desired (big plus), you have a hands-on mentality and proactively look for the necessary information.
