ArcelorMittal Energy Projects Singapore is proud to be part of the Bacalhau FPSO project, which is one of the world’s largest FPSO’s. For this project, in total 12,500 tons of structural steels (Plates, LSAW, SMLS, Beams, Hollow Sections & Shapes) will be provided for the construction of the topside.

ArcelorMittal Energy Projects has so far supplied close to 13,000 tons of structural steels with around 700 tons being supplied from our beam mill in Luxembourg. The remaining steels are supplied from a 3rd party mill, stockholder and our own stock in Singapore.

Our team is also providing comprehensive value add services which include steel sourcing, documentation, sandblast and priming, re-stenciling and colour coding on materials before shipment to the construction destination in Laem Chabang, Thailand.

A reliable partner

The customer saw in Energy Projects a committed and reliable project partner able to provide the right solutions timely. Sequentially after the initial agreement contract expired, more orders were placed by the customer as they valued our value add services such as project management and technical support. This led to Energy Projects securing the clients’ full steel requirement for this project.

The prefabrication for the topside modules started in April 2021. After completion, the topside modules will be transported to Singapore at the start of 2023 for integration onboard the hull, which was fabricated in China.

Once completed, Bacalhau FPSO will be one of the world’s largest FPSO’s, and the largest FPSO ever delivered to Brazil with a production capacity of up to 220,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The FPSO vessel will be deployed at the Bacalhau field (formerly Carcará) located in the giant pre-salt region of the Santos Basin approx. 185 kilometres off the coast of the state of São Paulo
