Job summary
Responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of supply chain processes with a focus on reducing the overall cost of Logistics and Material Handling costs. The role involves seamless logistical procedures such as transportation, stock control, warehousing, and ensuring structures are in place to monitor the flow of goods and materials.
Job location: to be either Jebel Ali or Hamriyah UAE sites based on project/company requirements
Primary responsibilities
- Develop a system for monitoring the logistics operations (inbound and outbound) across various transport modes (Land, Sea, Air)
- Ensure cost optimisation of the overall Logistics & Material Handling spend including
- Implement a MIS reporting system for management review including daily dashboard, cost analysis
- Identify options of using technology to streamline the operations and bring more digitalisation to the process.
- Coordinating and controlling the order cycle and associated information systems.
- To plan and schedule deliveries to various customers, accurately, with correct documentation and formalities, in coordination with the sales teams and sales administrators.
- To monitor and ensure all delivery notes are entered on time, accurately into the information systems and a proper documenting system is in place for tracking of delivery reports.
- Analysing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand.
- Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs.
- Liaising and negotiating with container lines, transport companies and inspection parties for best solutions and rates on transportation.
- Developing business by gaining new contracts, analysing logistical problems and providing new solutions.
Additional responsibilities
- Implementing health and safety procedures as per the company’s core health and safety policy guidelines.
- Reporting and maintaining database of accident reports occurring in Logistics / Yard Operations.
- Managing staff training requirements in coordination with HR / HSE and conducting shop floor audits.
- Motivating other members of the department.
Background & skills
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management
- 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Sound Knowledge of INCOTERMS and inbound / outbound Logistics across various modes (sea, air, land)
- Be flexible to adapt to business requirements in terms of responsibilities, location etc as business needs are project driven
- Possess strong analytical troubleshooting and problem resolution, good management skills
- Ability to prioritise projects and multiple tasks, to understand complex technical information and translate this information into relevant business terms and concepts
- Capable of developing clear and up-to-date procedural documentation
- Ability to communicate with others in an effective and concise manner
- Strong knowledge of MS office, Excel and Word specifically, for report and data analysis
